The IJAW PEOPLES ASSOCIATION

IPA - has been around for 55 years - it was founded in 1953 at the time of the first discoveries and exploitation of the oil reserves in the Delta Region of Nigeria.

It has sought ever since then to assist the native peoples of the region - or Ijawland as it is commonly known - to escape from the poverty that has contributed to the social deprivation which has scarred the region ever since this discovery of oil.
